Implementation of Religious Moderation in Learning Islamic Religious Education and Character in Class VIII at SMP Negeri 1 Siak Kecil

Abstract. This type of research is descriptive qualitative, and uses field research. The data source for this research is class VIII students who are Muslim, Buddhist and Christian at SMP Negeri 1 Siak Kecil, consisting of 3 female students. Furthermore, data collection in this research used a proportional sampling technique and the results of data collection in this research were analyzed using qualitative data analysis techniques. Based on the research findings, it can be concluded that the results of this research are in accordance with the problem formulation. The results of the research in this articel show: 1) implementation of religious moderation at the insertion stage in learning. Firstly providing material related to religious moderation, in PAI learning the teacher also provides freedom to participate in the learning process. Second, study material related to religious moderation, such as in QS Al-Isra' verses 26-27 and QS Al-Furqon verse 63. Third, always set an example of humility and simple living. 2) implementation of religious moderation at the optimization stage in PAI learning at SMP Negeri 1 Siak Kecil. Firstly, optimizing approaches to the surrounding environment, in the classroom and outside the classroom in order to respect fellow creatures. Second, optimizing the approach in the classroom with a learning method that uses discussion or debate methods (Active Debate) to foster critical thinking, sportsmanship, respect for other people's opinions and the courage to express opinions rationally.
