Peran Pemahaman Ilmu Nahwu Terhadap Strategi Membaca Teks Bahasa Arab Pada Mahasiswa
Abstract
Abstract. This study aims to explore in depth the role of nahwu (Arabic grammar) comprehension in students’ reading strategies for Arabic texts. The focus of the research is to understand how mastery of Arabic grammatical rules shapes students’ experiences and comprehension processes when interacting with texts. The study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, in which data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis (such as students’ reflective notes) involving a group of students. The findings reveal that a deep understanding of nahwu functions as a cognitive framework that enables students to systematically deconstruct texts. Emerging reading strategies—such as identifying sentence structures (tarkīb) and analyzing grammatical functions (i‘rāb)—are applied not as mechanical procedures but as interpretive processes aimed at uncovering meaning. The study concludes that mastery of nahwu serves not merely as a supplementary tool but as a hermeneutic foundation that facilitates a more accurate, meaningful, and contextually rich understanding of Arabic texts.
