Effectiveness of The Problem Based Learning Model Assisted By Geogebra in Elementary School Mathematics : (Study of Literature)

Abstract

Abstract. Mathematics learning at the elementary school level requires innovative strategies. One approach that has been widely researched is the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model combined with digital media such as GeoGebra. This study aims to analyze the effect of the application of the GeoGebra-assisted PBL model on mathematics learning in elementary schools, as well as to identify effective implementation strategies based on the results of previous research. The research method used is a systematic literature review with the PRISMA approach, which focuses on empirical studies on the integration of PBL and GeoGebra in the context of elementary mathematics education. Literature sources were obtained from Google Scholar, ERIC, and Scopus databases with a publication period between 2020 and 2025. Keywords used in the search include "Problem Based Learning", "GeoGebra", and "elementary mathematics learning". From the screening results, 10 scientific articles were obtained that met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using a narrative analysis approach to group the findings based on the main themes and research results. The study results show that the implementation of GeoGebra-assisted PBL consistently improves students' learning outcomes, critical thinking skills, reasoning skills, numeracy literacy, problem-solving, and motivation and learning engagement. The use of GeoGebra helps students visualize abstract concepts dynamically. However, the main challenges remain the limited skills of teachers in optimally integrating technology and the availability of digital devices in elementary schools.
