Abstract

Abstract. Mathematical literacy is one of the important skills in facing the 21st century. This study analyzed students’ mathematical literacy ability viewed by self-regulated learning of junior high school students. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive design through a case study. The research subjects were 28 students in ninth grade in Salafiyah Babussalam. The data collection techniques were questionnaires and interviews. Questionnaires were also used to group students based on self-regulated learning. The data analysis technique was the Miles and Huberman technique, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The research results show that self-regulated learning is in line with students’ mathematical literacy ability, which is 1) students with high self-regulated learning category were able to formulate, use concepts, interpret problems, and give good arguments; 2) students with moderate self-regulated learning category were able to formulate, use concepts, and interpret problems but they were unable to provide good arguments; and 3) and students with low self-regulated learning category were unable to formulate problems, use concepts, interpret and communicate the results of mathematical problems so that those had an impact on giving wrong answers.
