Abstract

The development of digital technology has encouraged the integration of technology-based learning media into the science learning process. One widely implemented innovation is the use of virtual laboratories as an alternative or support for science practicums in junior high schools. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of using virtual labs in junior high schools science practicums, in terms of improving learning outcomes, science process skills, and student motivation. The research method used was a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects consisted of two classes: an experimental class using a virtual lab and a control class using conventional practicum methods. The research instruments included a learning outcome test, a science process skills observation sheet, and a learning motivation questionnaire. The results showed that the use of virtual labs significantly improved learning outcomes, science process skills, and student motivation compared to conventional learning. Thus, virtual labs are effective as a science learning medium in junior high schools.
