Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the Index Card Match learning model on the motivation and science learning outcomes of seventh-grade students of SMP N 1 Jujuhan, Bungo Regency. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental, specifically a nonequivalent control group design involving pretest and posttest in the experimental and control classes to see changes in learning outcomes. The research sample consists of 2 classes selected using a purposive sampling technique. The experimental class was given treatment with the Index Card Match model, while the control class used conventional learning. This study conducted statistical analysis assisted by SPSS using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and parametric tests, namely the t-test to determine the effect of the Index Card Match learning model. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the results of the hypothesis test for learning motivation show t count> t table = 3.109> 2.080 indicating a significant difference between the learning motivation of students taught using the Index Card Match model compared to the conventional model. The results of the hypothesis test for learning outcomes show tcount>ttable = 2.227>2.080, so it can be concluded that there is an influence of the Index Card Match learning model on the motivation and science learning outcomes of class VII students of SMP N 1 Jujuhan, Bungo Regency.
